PRP, Medication, or Hair Transplant, What’s Right for Diffuse Thinning?
I’m experiencing diffuse hair thinning. Before going for a transplant, should I try PRP or medication first? How do I know what stage of hair loss I am in and what treatment is best suited?

Diffuse thinning is usually treated medically first because a transplant alone cannot prevent ongoing hair fall. PRP, minoxidil, and sometimes oral medications are used to stabilize the shedding phase and improve hair density.
These treatments help strengthen existing follicles and can delay or reduce the need for transplant. A dermatologist can grade your hair loss using scales like the Norwood scale for men or the Ludwig scale for women.
This assessment helps determine whether medical therapy is enough or whether a transplant is required later. Starting with medications and PRP usually gives a clearer picture of how your hair responds.
