Lipoma Surgery Explained : Can Multiple Lipomas Be Removed in One Sitting?

How is lipoma surgery done? I have around 10 lipomas on my hand. Can they all be treated in one sitting, or will I need multiple surgeries?

Over the past few years, the approach to lipoma surgery has changed significantly. Earlier, lipomas were removed with larger cuts, but now we usually make very small punctures, just about 1–2 mm.

Through these tiny openings, the fatty tissue of the lipoma can be broken down and removed, sometimes using liposuction techniques or other minimally invasive methods.

If someone has multiple lipomas for example, 10 lipomas on the hand we can make small individual punctures and remove each lipoma separately in the same sitting. So yes, it is absolutely safe to treat multiple lipomas at once.

As long as the patient is fit from an anesthesia and safety point of view, all the lipomas present in different areas can be removed in a single procedure, without the need for multiple surgeries.
