Can Lipoma Come Back or Appear Elsewhere After Removal?

I had a lipoma near my neck which I got treated and removed. Can it appear somewhere else in the body again?

Yes, it can appear in another area. Lipomas near the neck are actually good to get treated because the neck contains many vital structures, and sometimes swellings in this area can also be lymph nodes related to infection, which need to be ruled out.
Even if a lipoma in one area has been completely removed, new lipomas can still develop in different parts of the body later on. This happens because lipoma is a genetic condition. If you notice a new lump anywhere else, it should be evaluated and treated when needed.
