Cataract Surgery Cost Without Insurance

We do not have health insurance and want to understand how much cataract surgery will cost. Also, is it possible to avoid surgery and manage the condition with medicines or eye drops, or without changing the lens? Please explain clearly.

Even if you do not have insurance, cataract surgery can still be planned. The cost mainly depends on the eye power and the type of intraocular lens (IOL) required. Every patient’s eye is different, so the lens size and power vary.

The starting cost of cataract surgery is usually around ₹30,000, which includes a basic lens option. The exact cost can only be confirmed after proper eye measurements, as clarity and vision needs differ from person to person.

Regarding avoiding surgery cataract means the natural eye lens is damaged or broken. Unfortunately, there is no medicine or eye drop that can repair a cataract. Eye drops may temporarily reduce blur by dilating the eye, but the cataract will continue to progress.

If left untreated, cataract can reach an advanced stage, leading to severely reduced vision or black spots, which many patients experience in later stages. Therefore, surgery is the only permanent and effective treatment for cataract.
