My Period Is 5 Days Late : What Could Be Causing It?
My cycle is usually regular, around 28–30 days. It's been 5 days past my expected date and I haven't got my period yet. I haven't had sex recently, so pregnancy isn't likely. What else could be causing this delay?

A late period doesn’t always mean pregnancy. Several things can push a cycle off schedule.
Stress is the most common reason. High cortisol interferes with the hormones that trigger ovulation. If you’ve had an unusually stressful few weeks, that’s likely a factor.
Other common causes: sudden weight changes, intense exercise, illness or fever around ovulation, thyroid issues, PCOS, or starting/stopping hormonal contraceptives.
If your period is 7–10 days late, a pregnancy test is reasonable even if unprotected sex seems unlikely just to rule it out. If it’s been over 2 weeks with a negative test, see a gynecologist. Occasional late periods are normal. But if cycles keep becoming irregular, conditions like hypothyroidism or PCOS are worth investigating.
