Itching on the Outside of the Vagina : What’s Causing It?
I've been dealing with itching on the outside of my vagina for about 3 days. There's no unusual discharge and no burning when I pee. What could be causing this and should I see a doctor about it?

Itching on the vulva (outside) without discharge or urinary symptoms narrows things down.
Contact dermatitis: Most common cause. Reaction to soaps, body wash, laundry detergent, pads, or synthetic underwear. The vulvar skin is very sensitive. Switching to unscented products and cotton underwear often resolves it in a few days.
Yeast infection: Even without thick discharge, yeast overgrowth can cause itching as the main symptom. More likely after antibiotics or before periods.
Dry skin: Low estrogen (common in perimenopausal women) thins the skin and causes irritation without infection.
Lichen simplex: The itch-scratch cycle where scratching makes it worse.
For immediate relief: avoid scratching, rinse with cool water, switch to loose cotton underwear.
