Miscarriage Treatment and Management : Symptoms, Medical Care and Emotional Recovery

My friend recently experienced a miscarriage in the early stage of pregnancy. She had bleeding and abdominal cramps and the doctor confirmed that the pregnancy was not continuing. We are very concerned about what happens next, whether any treatment is required, and how she can recover physically and emotionally from this situation.

Miscarriage, also known as spontaneous abortion, refers to the loss of pregnancy before the fetus can survive outside the womb. It is relatively common and can occur due to various reasons, such as chromosomal abnormalities, hormonal issues, or other medical conditions.

Treatment depends on the situation. In some cases, the body expels the pregnancy tissue naturally without intervention. In others, medication may be given to complete the process, or a minor surgical procedure called dilation and curettage (D&C) may be required to remove any remaining tissue from the uterus. Recovery involves both physical healing and emotional support.

Patients are advised to rest, follow medical guidance, and attend follow-up checkups to ensure complete recovery. It is also important to understand that experiencing a miscarriage does not necessarily affect future fertility, and many women go on to have healthy pregnancies afterward.
