Multiple Lipomas on Body: Treatment Options, Surgery & Recovery Explained
2 months ago
I have multiple lipomas (around 100) across my body, mostly in clusters on my arms, thighs, and abdomen. Some are slightly larger and visible. What is the best treatment approach, and is it possible to remove all of them at once?

Lipomas are benign fat tissue growths that can occur in multiple numbers, sometimes due to a genetic tendency. There is no medical (non-surgical) cure for lipomas—treatment involves surgical removal.
However, it is not practical or advisable to remove all lipomas if they are very numerous. Doctors usually recommend removing only those that are large, growing, painful, or cosmetically concerning. Small lipomas are best removed through a minor incision (open method) to ensure complete removal, while liposuction may be considered for larger or clustered ones, though it may not guarantee complete extraction.
When multiple lipomas are present, surgery may be planned in stages or done under general anesthesia to remove several in one session. Recovery is generally quick, with 1-day hospitalization, return to routine work in 2–4 days, and exercise after 2–4 weeks depending on healing. Consulting a qualified surgeon is important to evaluate the number, size, and location of lipomas and plan the most appropriate treatment.
