Mild Pain After Varicocele Surgery : Is It Normal or a Sign of Complication?
I underwent varicocelectomy surgery about two months ago, and recently I’ve noticed slight pain when I touch my left testicle, especially from the bottom. Otherwise, I feel fine and don’t have constant pain. My follow-up check-up and Doppler scan showed no major issues, just a small cyst and some post-surgical vein changes. I am worried whether this pain is normal after surgery or if something went wrong. Also, how long should I wait before repeating the scan to confirm proper recovery?

Mild, touch-related pain after varicocelectomy is quite common and can persist for up to 3 months as part of the normal healing process, especially when there are no other symptoms or abnormal findings on examination. Post-surgical changes like a small cyst or mild vein prominence are usually not concerning.
The microscopic varicocelectomy you underwent is considered the most effective and standard procedure, with no major advancements in recent years. There is typically no harm from the surgery, and recovery can vary between individuals.
It is advisable to wait around 6 months post-surgery before repeating a Doppler scan to accurately assess the final outcome.
