Tight Foreskin Causing Hygiene & Pain During Intercourse : Is Surgery the Only Solution?
I am a 45-year-old male facing a long-term issue where my foreskin does not retract properly. Over time, it has become more difficult, causing hygiene problems and discomfort during intercourse. I am not diabetic and have had normal sugar levels. I want to understand if this tightness can be treated with medicines or if surgery is required. If surgery is needed, what is the procedure, is it painful, what are the risks, and how long is the recovery period?

This condition is commonly due to a tight foreskin (phimosis), which usually does not improve with medicines in long-standing cases. The most effective treatment is a minor procedure called stapler circumcision, which is a quick day-care surgery lasting around 10–15 minutes with discharge on the same day.
It is performed under local anesthesia, so there is no pain during the procedure, and only mild discomfort may occur afterward for a few days. The surgery improves hygiene, prevents urine retention, and makes sexual activity more comfortable. Risks like infection or bleeding are minimal and manageable.
Post-surgery care includes basic cleaning and ointment application for about 10–15 days, and sexual activity should be avoided for around 4 weeks for proper healing.
