Liposuction for Abdomen & Thigh Fat : Safety, Recovery, and How Much Fat Can Be Removed
2 weeks ago
I am planning to undergo liposuction, as I have gained weight recently (around 105 kg now). I have fat accumulation mainly in my abdomen and thighs. I want to understand how liposuction works, how much fat can be safely removed, and whether both areas can be treated together. Also, I have read about risks online—how safe is the procedure? What is the recovery time, and will there be loose skin afterward?

Liposuction is a procedure where small cuts are made in hidden areas like the navel or groin, and excess stubborn fat is removed through these openings. In one session, around 8–10 liters of fat can be safely removed depending on your body weight and condition.
If you choose to treat two areas (like abdomen and thighs), the total fat removed is divided between both, so focusing on one area at a time often gives better results.
The procedure usually takes about 1.5–2 hours, with a hospital stay of one day. You can resume normal activities from the next day, but you must wear a compression garment for 4–6 weeks to help with skin tightening. Some loose skin can occur, but it gradually improves over 3–6 months, especially with proper garment use and exercise after one month.
Regarding safety, liposuction is generally safe when performed by an experienced surgeon. Serious complications are extremely rare, and most common issues include temporary swelling, mild unevenness, or loose skin, which improve over time. A physical examination is important before planning the surgery to decide the best approach for you.
