Is mild pain and sensitivity normal after varicocele surgery?

I had a varicocele grade 4 laparoscopic surgery) around 2 months ago. Recently, I still feel slight pain or sensitivity when I touch my left testicle, especially from the lower side. I got a follow-up done, including a Doppler scan, and the doctor mentioned a small cyst and some vein prominence but said it’s nothing serious. I’m just worried if this is normal or if something went wrong with the surgery. Also, is this the best procedure, or are there better options available now?

Mild tenderness or sensitivity around the testicle 2 months after varicocele surgery can occur during recovery, as tissues and veins continue to heal. A small cyst or some residual or prominent veins on Doppler does not necessarily mean that the surgery failed, especially if your doctor has reviewed the scan and found no serious abnormality.
Varicocele treatment has several approaches, including microsurgical varicocelectomy, laparoscopic surgery, and embolization. Microsurgical varicocelectomy is often preferred because it allows precise identification of veins while helping preserve the testicular artery and lymphatics. However, the best approach depends on the grade of varicocele, symptoms, fertility status, anatomy, and surgeon expertise. If your pain is worsening, swelling develops, or you notice a new lump, follow up with your urologist.
