Is Occasional Ringing in Ears Common After Stapedectomy?

My cousin had stapedectomy a year ago, and she reports occasional ringing in her ear, though her hearing improved. Is this a common long-term side effect, or should she get it checked again?

Mild tinnitus, or ringing, is relatively common after stapedectomy, especially in the first months. In many cases, it decreases gradually or remains stable without affecting daily life. However, if it worsens, becomes persistent, or is accompanied by dizziness or hearing changes, a follow-up appointment is important. ENT specialists can assess the cause and suggest interventions if necessary. Most patients live comfortably with occasional mild ringing.
