Why does a Bartholin cyst keep coming back after drainage?
I had a Bartholin cyst drained a few months ago and now I can feel another lump in almost the same place. It isn't extremely painful yet, but I'm worried it will become infected again. Why do these cysts sometimes keep coming back?

Bartholin cysts can recur because drainage alone does not remove the underlying blocked gland, allowing fluid to accumulate again over time. Recurrence is quite common after simple drainage procedures, and a more definitive treatment such as marsupialization or gland removal may be recommended to reduce the chances of it happening again. Since the new lump is in the same area, it is advisable to consult a gynecologist soon so it can be evaluated and treated before it becomes infected or more painful.
