How do surgeons decide between breast lift and breast augmentation?
I'm confused about whether I need a breast lift or breast augmentation. My breasts have lost their shape after weight loss, but I don't necessarily want them bigger. How do surgeons normally tell which procedure would actually address the problem?

A breast lift (mastopexy) is typically recommended when the primary concern is sagging or loss of shape, while augmentation focuses on increasing volume.
After significant weight loss, if the breasts have lost firmness and position but you don’t want added size, a lift is usually the more appropriate procedure.
A plastic surgeon will assess factors like nipple position, skin laxity, and remaining breast tissue during a consultation to recommend the best option , sometimes a combination of both is suggested. It’s best to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon for a personalized evaluation.
It depends on the present size and shape and your chest circumference and your preferences. If volume is not what you want just want to address sagging then you can opt for mastopexy.
Breast lift is performed when there is only saggy skin.. you also need to understand that during lift the extra skin what is removed also causes some size to reduce.. If there is chance that significant reduction of size can happen then some skin retention or implant can be chosen to maintain volume
