Varicocele vs Hydrocele: What’s the Difference, and Can Varicocele Affect Fertility?
My varicocele ultrasound report shows bilateral varicocele, possibly mild or grade 1. I’m confused about hydrocele vs varicocele, according to my symptoms. how are they different? Do varicocele veins really affect fertility, and does varicocele cause infertility in the long run?

As your doctor, I understand your confusion regarding your diagnosis. You have a bilateral mild varicocele (grade 1), which is generally small and may not produce noticeable symptoms. A hydrocele is, however, different; it is fluid around the testicle, whereas a varicocele is enlarged veins in the scrotum. They are separate conditions, though they can sometimes occur together.
Varicoceles can impact fertility in some men by affecting sperm quality, but many men with mild varicoceles remain fertile. A microscopic varicocele surgery is advised if fertility or symptoms are affected. For mild cases, your doctor might suggest some medications or natural remedies.
