Painless Scrotal Lump: Spermatocele or Hydrocele? Treatment and Pain Relief Options
9 months ago
I’m confused about my symptoms. I am having a painless lump or swelling. Is it a spermatocele or a hydrocele? While searching on Google, I learnt about hydrocele phimosis, too. Can my symptoms be cured without surgery, or do I need an operation? Are there safe hydrocele pain tablets for relief?

I understand your confusion and will help clarify your concerns. A painless lump in the scrotum can have several causes. A hydrocele is fluid around the testicle, usually soft, smooth, and transilluminant (light passes through it). A spermatocele, on the other hand, is a cyst in the epididymis, usually small, round, and painless. Hydrocele and phimosis are unrelated conditions. Hydrocele phimosis involves foreskin issues rather than scrotal swelling.
Mild hydroceles and spermatoceles often don’t need surgery if they’re not causing discomfort. Pain can be managed with safe analgesics like paracetamol or ibuprofen. Home remedies or medications generally cannot shrink the swelling. However, if your swelling causes discomfort or keeps enlarging, I strongly advise consulting a surgeon for safe and lasting relief.
