Sharp upper back pain combined with a sore throat can sometimes be related to a throat or respiratory infection, as referred pain from the throat area can occasionally radiate to the upper back.
While this combination is not always serious, it is important to monitor your symptoms closely. If the pain is severe, persistent, or accompanied by difficulty breathing, fever, or other concerning symptoms, please consult a doctor promptly for a proper evaluation.
While severe heartburn can occasionally radiate pain to the back between the shoulder blades due to intense esophageal irritation or spasms, severe or sudden upper back pain should never be automatically assumed to be just acid reflux.
