Bulge Near Navel with Normal Weight – Can I Safely Go for Liposuction?
I am a 35-year-old male with a weight around 80 kg and height about 175 cm. My overall body is fine, but for the past 2 years, I have noticed fat accumulation in my abdomen, especially after night meals. Also, my navel looks swollen or like a lump, which is not normal. I am considering liposuction for my belly fat, but I’m worried about this navel issue. Could it be a hernia? If yes, can I still go for liposuction, and what should be done first?

The bulge near your navel could be an umbilical hernia, which needs proper evaluation before planning any cosmetic procedure. An ultrasound is usually required to confirm this.
If a hernia is present, it should be treated first, as performing liposuction in such cases can increase the risk of complications. Your BMI is within a suitable range, making you a good candidate for liposuction to remove superficial abdominal fat.
However, liposuction only targets fat under the skin and does not address deeper fat or hernia-related issues. The procedure typically involves small cuts, 1–3 hours of surgery, short hospital stay, and mild soreness for 1–2 weeks. It’s important to first rule out or treat the hernia, and then proceed with liposuction safely for optimal results.
