Can obesity or steroid use cause permanent gynecomastia? If yes, even after stopping steroids or losing weight, will the glandular tissue shrink or will surgery still be required?

Obesity and steroid use can both cause gynecomastia. Losing weight helps reduce fat, but if gland tissue has developed, it usually won’t go away on its own and may need surgery. Steroids can cause permanent changes, so stopping them is important, but surgery might still be needed to get rid of the breast tissue.
