Does Gym Training or Weight Lifting Really Cause Gynecomastia?

Many people believe that going to the gym or doing a lot of weight training can cause gynecomastia. Is this true?

No, this is a complete myth. Gynecomastia is not caused by going to the gym, strength training, weight training, or by taking a high-protein diet. What actually happens is that the gynecomastia gland is already present in some people, and when you exercise, the chest muscles get pumped and firm.
Since the gland lies between the skin and the muscle, the muscle pump pushes it forward, making it appear more prominent, even though its size does not increase. The only real risk is the use of anabolic steroids, which disturb hormonal balance and can trigger or worsen gynecomastia.
