Endometrioma surgery preserving ovarian reserve and considering egg freezing before treatment?

I have a 6 cm endometrioma on one ovary and the surgeon wants to remove it. I’m terrified of losing ovarian reserve and my chance at a child. How do surgeons balance removing the cyst with preserving fertility, and should I consider egg-freezing first?

Endometrioma surgery is delicate because while removing the cyst helps with pain and fertility, there is also a risk of reducing ovarian reserve. Experienced surgeons aim to remove the cyst wall carefully while preserving as much healthy ovary as possible. If fertility is a strong concern and your ovarian reserve is already low, discussing egg freezing before surgery is a wise option. This way you have a backup for the future.
