Endometriosis recurrence after surgery choosing between repeat surgery and hormonal therapy?

I had laparoscopic removal of endometriosis 8 months ago but my pelvic pain and heavy periods are back. Is recurrence common so soon? How do I decide between repeat surgery and long-term hormonal therapy . I’m tensed and frustated, can’t keep missing my office work anymore. My career is as important for me.

Unfortunately, recurrence within the first year is possible, especially in moderate to severe cases. Deciding between another surgery and medical therapy depends on the severity of symptoms, your fertility goals, and how much the pain is impacting your daily life.

If you are not planning immediate pregnancy, hormonal therapy can help suppress disease activity and reduce pain. If fertility is your top priority, another surgery may be considered.

It’s important to have an honest discussion with your doctor about your priorities and lifestyle.
