Endometriosis diagnosis accuracy of MRI and ultrasound versus diagnostic laparoscopy ?

For years I was treated as IBS before anyone suspected endometriosis. What tests actually confirm this condition, is diagnostic laparoscopy the only definitive test, or can MRI/ultrasound be conclusive?

Ultrasound and MRI can suggest endometriosis, especially if there are large cysts or deep nodules. But small lesions often go undetected. Laparoscopy with direct visualization and biopsy remains the gold standard for confirming endometriosis. Imaging is still useful in guiding treatment decisions and planning surgery.
