Fibroids Increasing but No Symptoms : Does Really Need Uterus Removal?
I am consulting on behalf of my 43-year-old mother who recently underwent an ultrasound and was diagnosed with uterine fibroids. The doctor mentioned that her uterus size is increasing and even suggested uterus removal surgery. However, my mother does not have any major symptoms her periods are normal, there is no significant pain, and overall she feels fine except for some fatigue. We are confused and want to understand whether surgery is really necessary at this stage or if it can be managed without removing the uterus.

If your mother has fibroids but no significant symptoms like pain, heavy or irregular periods, or pressure-related issues, immediate surgery is usually not required. Fibroids can increase in size over time, but treatment decisions are mainly based on symptoms and impact on quality of life. Fatigue alone is not directly related to fibroids and should be evaluated separately.
Surgery, including uterus removal, is generally considered only when fibroids are large, continue to grow, cause symptoms, or do not respond to medical treatment. Regular monitoring and follow-up are important before deciding on any major surgical step.
