Gynecomastia in Teenagers : Should You Wait or Consider Surgery?
I am 16 years old and have had gynecomastia for the past 2 years without pain or size increase. Should I wait for it to resolve on its own or consider surgery now?

Gynecomastia is quite common during puberty due to hormonal changes, and in many cases, it can resolve on its own by the age of 18. Since you are 16 and your condition has been stable without pain or progression, there is still a reasonable chance (around 30–40%) that it may improve naturally.
Surgery is typically considered only if the condition persists after 18 or if it is causing significant emotional distress. The procedure involves removing excess fat and gland tissue under general anesthesia and is usually a safe, one-day process with good cosmetic results.
It’s best to discuss your concerns with a qualified plastic surgeon and your family to decide whether to wait or proceed based on how much it is affecting your confidence and daily life.
