Pregnancy related vomiting usually does not directly affect the baby’s heartbeat. However, frequent or severe vomiting can cause dehydration, weakness, and electrolyte imbalance, which may affect your health and indirectly affect the pregnancy if not treated.

Please consult your gynecologist if vomiting is frequent or you cannot keep food or fluids down. Seek urgent medical care if you have very little urine, severe weakness, dizziness, blood in vomit, or signs of dehydration. Your doctor can prescribe pregnancy safe medication to control vomiting and may check the baby’s well being if needed.
