I had a chronic ear infection which led to a hole in my eardrum. My ENT has advised tympanoplasty. I am very scared of surgery, is this surgery safe, and does it really restore hearing completely?

Many patients also notice improvement in hearing, but whether it becomes completely normal depends on how healthy the middle ear bones and inner ear are.
