Lumps in Chest Area : Fatty Tissue or Something Else?

I feel lumps in my chest area. Could this swelling be something else, or is it an issue with fatty tissue?

This is most likely an issue with fatty tissue. Chest lumps generally occur in two ways: first, as gynecomastia, which is glandular tissue under the chest muscle and skin, and second, as other swellings like lipomas or cysts.

If you want to self-evaluate for gynecomastia, here’s a simple method: the gland lies under your chest muscles, beneath the skin, so you can try to fix your chest muscles in a certain position.

For example, bodybuilders flex their chest muscles, or you can place your hands on your waist and press tightly. This tightens the chest muscles. Then, gently feel around the nipple area sometimes you can feel a disc-like gland, which indicates gynecomastia.

For lipomas, they feel different. A lipoma is a movable lump that shifts under your fingers when touched. It usually does not cause pain and can appear anywhere on the chest. The gynecomastia gland, however, is located specifically behind the nipple or in the lower chest.
