Multiple Lipomas Growing Over Time : Should I Remove Them and Can They Come Back?
I have been noticing multiple swellings on both my hands for the past 2–3 years. Initially, there was just one small lump, but gradually they have increased to around 6–7 and have become bigger in size. These swellings are soft, slightly movable, and sometimes painful when I press them for long. I am worried about what these could be and whether they are dangerous. Is there any medicine to treat or dissolve them, or do I need surgery? Also, if I get them removed, can they come back again?

These swellings are most likely lipomas, which are benign (non-cancerous) growths of fat tissue and generally not harmful. When multiple lipomas occur, it is often due to a genetic tendency called multiple lipomatosis.
There is currently no medicine whether allopathic, homeopathic, or ayurvedic that can dissolve or stop their growth. The only effective treatment is surgical removal through a small micro-incision (about 3–4 mm) under local anaesthesia, after which scars are minimal.
If left untreated, lipomas can slowly increase in size, become more noticeable, and may require bigger surgery later. Once removed, the chances of recurrence at the same site are almost negligible, but new lipomas can develop in other parts of the body over time.
