Rectal Bleeding After Polyp Removal
Hello Doctor, I’m calling from Chandikhar. A few days ago, I noticed some blood while passing stools. Three years ago, I had a small polyp detected during a colonoscopy, which was removed and tested. Since then, my stools were normal, especially after taking fiber supplements. My earlier tests showed no serious issues, and I was advised to get checked every 5–6 years. The recent bleeding is bright red and not from the back passage. What could be causing this, and should I get checked again urgently?

Your recent bright red rectal bleeding is a valid concern, especially given your history of a polyp three years ago.
While occasional minor bleeding can be due to dietary changes or minor anal issues, any new or recurring bleeding after polyp removal warrants prompt evaluation.
A repeat colonoscopy or appropriate diagnostic tests are recommended to rule out new polyps, inflammation, or other underlying conditions.
Since the bleeding is fresh and not coming from the back passage, it is unlikely to be from hemorrhoids alone, so timely consultation with a gastroenterologist is advised to ensure safety and proper management.
