Right vs Left vs Bilateral Hydrocele – Any Difference?Hydrocele

I have been diagnosed with a right hydrocele, but sometimes I also hear about left hydrocele and bilateral hydroceles. Are they different? Can you suggest me some pain relief options? What is the best medicine for hydrocele or hydrocele in adults for long-term relief?

As your doctor, I want to reassure you that a hydrocele is fluid around the testicle. It can appear on the right side, left side, or both sides (bilateral), but the condition itself is essentially the same; the difference is just the location. Also, there is no medicine that can shrink a hydrocele or provide a long-term cure. For discomfort, I usually recommend safe pain relief like paracetamol or NSAIDs. Supportive underwear can help temporarily ease heaviness. For long-term management, mild hydroceles can be monitored safely, and surgery is only needed if the swelling becomes large, painful, or persistent.
