Underarm Fat After Lump Surgery : Is It Axillary Breast and Should I Remove It?
I am a 21-year-old female and previously underwent surgery for lumps in both underarms and my right breast. Now, I am noticing fat-like swelling again in both underarms, which becomes painful and slightly enlarged during my periods. I am worried whether this is just fat or something related to breast tissue. Will this increase over time or cause serious issues? Do I need surgery again, and if yes, how safe and effective is it?

Based on your symptoms, this is most likely an axillary breast (extra breast tissue in the underarm area), not just fat. This tissue can increase in size over time, especially with hormonal changes like periods, and may cause pain and swelling. Since it tends to grow gradually and can create discomfort as well as cosmetic concerns, removal is usually recommended, especially at a young age.
The procedure is simple and minimally invasive, typically done using liposuction with a very small incision, leaving almost no visible scar. It is a short, safe surgery (around 20–40 minutes total) with quick recovery, and once removed, it usually does not come back.
