What are the treatment options for migraine that doesn’t respond to medication?
Message Hello Doctor, I have been suffering from recurrent headaches and was previously diagnosed with migraine. I have tried migraine medications, but my headaches have not improved significantly. I also experience headaches when I wake up in the morning, and heat, sunlight, and stress seem to make them worse. Are there any other effective treatment options for migraine, such as Botox injections, CGRP-targeted treatments, nerve blocks, or non-invasive brain stimulation (rTMS or other techniques)? I am not requesting a consultation or diagnosis. I would just like to know, in general, what other treatment options are available for people whose migraine does not respond to medication. Is it possible to get a brief answer to this question free of charge? Thank you.

For migraines that don’t respond to standard medications, several advanced treatment options exist, including Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) injections, CGRP-targeted therapies, nerve blocks (such as occipital nerve blocks), and non-invasive brain stimulation techniques like rTMS. These options are typically considered when two or more standard treatments have failed, a condition known as refractory or chronic migraine. It is strongly recommended to consult a neurologist or headache specialist who can evaluate your specific case and recommend the most appropriate treatment plan for you.
