What is a painless lump near the ear in a child?

My child has a lump near the side of his head close to the ear and I am very really worried about it. He does not complain about the pain, but the lump is clearly visible and seems swollen. can it be a lipoma, and should I get it checked or do any test ?

A painless, visible lump near the ear in a child can have several causes, including a lipoma (a benign fatty growth), a lymph node swelling, a sebaceous cyst, or other conditions. While lipomas are generally harmless, it is important to have a doctor examine the lump in person to determine its exact nature and whether any tests or treatment are needed. Please consult a pediatrician or a surgeon for a proper evaluation.

Yes definitely you should get it checkout and then go for tests which are advised by the doctor.
One may have to undergo multiple investigation before getting for final plan of what is the best treatment
