Why do platelets decrease in dengue, and how serious is it?
One thing that really scares me about dengue is the drop in platelet count. I’ve heard cases where people needed platelet transfusions, and it sounds quite serious. Why exactly do platelets decrease in dengue, and does a low platelet count always mean a dangerous situation?

In dengue, the virus affects the bone marrow (where platelets are produced) and also increases the destruction of platelets in the body.
This leads to a drop in platelet levels. However, a low platelet count does not always mean severe danger.
Platelet transfusion is only needed in specific cases. Regular monitoring and medical supervision are important to manage the condition safely.
