After multiple surgeries for mastoid cholesteatoma, ear discharge after wearing hearing aids may indicate irritation, moisture buildup, inflammation, or a recurrent ear infection. It is not considered normal, especially if it happens repeatedly.
Stop using the hearing aid until you are evaluated and consult your ENT specialist promptly. Your doctor may examine the ear to rule out recurrent cholesteatoma, infection, or problems with the surgical cavity. Seek urgent care if the discharge is foul smelling, bloody, or associated with severe pain, fever, or worsening hearing.
As a result of cholesteatoma surgery… There could be the presence of a cavity… In which debris keeps collecting… So when you use hearing aid, moisture develops inside due to ear closure which can aggregate otomycosis or ear discharge
