Understanding D&C procedure after miscarriage safety and recovery ?Miscarriage
3 weeks ago
I had a miscarriage recently at 10 weeks. The doctor mentioned “missed abortion” and suggested a D&C procedure. Can someone explain how safe D&C is, what recovery looks like, and whether it affects future pregnancies?

A missed abortion means the pregnancy stopped developing but the body did not expel the tissue naturally. In such cases, a D&C (dilatation and curettage) is often suggested to gently clear the uterus. It is a very common and generally safe procedure. Most women recover within a week or two, with mild cramps or light bleeding for a short period. The risk of complications is low when done by experienced doctors. Having a D&C does not usually affect fertility or future pregnancies. After recovery, your cycles return to normal, and you can try again once your doctor feels you are ready.
