Is there any difference between medical abortion (using pills) and surgical abortion in terms of safety, effectiveness, and recovery? Which method is better if the pregnancy is less than 8 weeks old?

Both medical abortion and surgical abortion are safe when done under proper medical care. Medical abortion with pills is effective up to about 7 weeks, sometimes up to 9 weeks depending on the guidelines, and it allows the process to happen naturally at home. It usually involves more bleeding and cramps but no surgery. Surgical abortion, such as vacuum aspiration, is a short procedure done in a clinic, and it clears the uterus immediately with less bleeding afterwards. For pregnancies less than 8 weeks, both methods are good. The choice depends on your comfort, availability of doctors, and whether you prefer a pill-based process at home or a quick procedure with faster recovery.
