How often should follow-up imaging be done for a benign breast lump?

If the lump is benign, like a fibroadenoma or cyst, do I still need surgery, or can it be monitored over time? How often should follow-up imaging be done?

If your lump is diagnosed as benign, such as a fibroadenoma or cyst, surgery may not always be necessary. Many small, stable lumps are simply monitored through periodic ultrasound scans every 6 to 12 months.

Surgery is usually advised only if the lump is large, growing, or cosmetically concerning. Regular follow-ups are key to ensuring it remains harmless over time.
