What Is Egg Freezing Really Like? Injections, Hormones, and Side Effects

Egg freezing sounds promising, but I’m nervous about the injections, hormones, and possible side effects. How intense is the stimulation process, how long does it take, and what symptoms do most women actually experience during the cycle?

The stimulation phase usually lasts around 8-10 days, during which you take  hormone injections to help multiple eggs grow. The needles are very fine, and most women get comfortable quickly. Common symptoms include bloating, mild mood changes, and a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen.

The egg retrieval is a short procedure done under anaesthesia , so you don’t feel pain during it. Most women return to normal activities within a day or two. The cycle is manageable for most people once they understand what to expect.
