Diffuse Hair Loss, Causes and Which Treatment Works Best?

My hair is thinning uniformly across the scalp, not in patches. I’ve tried oils, shampoos, and supplements, but the shedding continues. Is diffuse hair loss typically due to stress or genetics, and how do dermatologists decide whether PRP, medicines, or transplant is the right approach?

Diffuse thinning can be related to stress, hormones, nutritional deficiencies, or early genetic hair loss. Since it affects the whole scalp, products like oils and shampoos rarely make a difference.

Dermatologists check for miniaturisation and may suggest blood tests. If the follicles are intact, medicines and PRP work well. A transplant is only considered when there is clear permanent thinning, which is less common in diffuse shedding.
