Understanding Male Breast Enlargement : Causes & Solutions
2 months ago
I have noticed a painless swelling in my chest that makes it look like breast enlargement. It has been there for some time and does not reduce with exercise. What could be the reason, and do I need treatment?

This condition is most likely gynecomastia, which is a common and benign enlargement of male breast tissue caused by hormonal imbalance, where estrogen levels act more strongly than testosterone. It often develops gradually, is usually painless, and may affect one or both sides of the chest.
In some cases, excess fat deposition in the chest area, known as gynecomastia, can also contribute to this appearance, especially in individuals who are overweight. Treatment depends on the cause, duration, and severity of the condition.
Mild or early cases may only need observation and lifestyle modifications, but long-standing gynecomastia usually does not resolve on its own and may require surgical correction for permanent results. A clinical examination and, if required, basic investigations can help confirm the diagnosis and guide the appropriate treatment plan.
