Can endometriosis be present even when ultrasound appears normal?
My periods have become extremely painful over the last two years, and now I sometimes get pain during bowel movements too. My ultrasound was normal, so I was told it may not be endometriosis. Can endometriosis still be present when nothing obvious shows on an ultrasound?

Yes, endometriosis can absolutely be present even when an ultrasound appears normal. Ultrasound has limitations in detecting superficial endometrial implants or early-stage endometriosis, and a definitive diagnosis often requires laparoscopy. Given your symptoms of increasingly painful periods and pain during bowel movements, it is strongly advisable to consult a gynecologist who specializes in endometriosis for further evaluation.
