Painful is subjective some patients find IVF very smooth, while others feel it’s challenging. The tough part is more emotional than physical, because many assume IVF means guaranteed pregnancy, but success is around 40–50%, so you must be mentally prepared for both outcomes.

Daily injections are given with fine needles; they are not completely painless but very manageable. The egg retrieval is done under general anaesthesia, so you don’t feel anything and there are no cuts or stitches. If you get extra embryos, they are frozen and can be used later, so the full cycle doesn’t need to be repeated.

Overall, IVF is not extremely painful it’s more about managing the process, expectations, and regular hospital visits with the right mindset.
