Persistent Watery Vaginal Discharge : What Tests and Treatment Do I Need?
I am 45 years old with a history of C-section, thyroid issues, and high blood pressure. For the past few months, I have been experiencing continuous watery vaginal discharge throughout the day and even at night. It doesn’t have any color or thick consistency, just feels like water, though sometimes it has a mild odor. Earlier, I also had itching and burning sensation, and occasional burning during urination, but that has reduced now. My periods are currently regular, although I had a phase of heavy bleeding earlier. I am concerned about what could be causing this discharge and what tests or treatment I should consider.

Persistent watery vaginal discharge like this should be properly evaluated to identify the underlying cause. It is important to check blood sugar levels (fasting and post-meal), as uncontrolled sugars can contribute to recurrent infections. A urine routine and culture test are also recommended to rule out urinary infection.
Based on symptoms, treatment may include a short course of antibiotics along with an antifungal vaginal tablet. Proper insertion technique preferably at bedtime and placing it adequately deep inside ensures effectiveness. If symptoms do not improve within a week, further tests like discharge examination may be needed for accurate diagnosis and targeted treatment.
