Repeated ear infections are often caused by frequent colds, allergies, enlarged adenoids, immature Eustachian tubes, or exposure to cigarette smoke. Children in daycare may also experience recurrent infections due to increased exposure to viruses.

If infections occur frequently or affect hearing or speech development, further evaluation by a pediatrician or ENT specialist is recommended.
