What exactly causes malaria inside the body?

I understand that malaria spreads through mosquito bites, but I’m curious about what actually happens inside the body after someone gets infected. What is the main cause of malaria, and how does it lead to symptoms like fever and chills?

Malaria is caused by a parasite called Plasmodium. When an infected mosquito bites a person, it injects this parasite into the bloodstream.

The parasite then travels to the liver, multiplies, and later infects red blood cells. This leads to the destruction of these cells, causing symptoms like fever, chills, sweating, and weakness.

Different types of Plasmodium parasites can cause varying severity of malaria.
