Pregnancy planning with ovarian cyst is removal necessary?
I’m trying to conceive, but my ultrasound showed an ovarian cyst on the left ovary. Can I still get pregnant with an ovarian cyst, or does it reduce the chances? Are there any specific types of cysts that make pregnancy more risky or difficult?

Having an ovarian cyst does not automatically prevent pregnancy, and many women with small functional cysts conceive without problems. The impact on fertility depends on the type, size, and location of the cyst. Functional cysts, which form as part of the normal menstrual cycle, usually disappear on their own and rarely affect fertility.
However, cysts like endometriomas (from endometriosis), large dermoid cysts, or cysts affecting ovarian tissue can sometimes interfere with ovulation or implantation, potentially making conception more difficult.
Surgery may be considered if the cyst is large, persistent, or causing pain, but for many women, careful monitoring and symptom management are sufficient. Your doctor can guide you based on the cyst’s characteristics and your overall fertility plan.
