Do Intended Parents Share DNA with a Surrogate Carried Baby?

If the baby is carried by a surrogate, will the child still be genetically ours? This question worries us deeply, and we want to understand how the genetic connection works in different types of surrogacy arrangements.

In gestational surrogacy, which is the only legal form in India, the surrogate carries an embryo created from the intended parents’ egg and sperm. This means the child is genetically yours and the surrogate has no genetic link. Traditional surrogacy, where the surrogate’s egg is used, is not allowed under Indian law. So couples can be assured that their baby shares their genetic makeup when undergoing the approved process.
